Cape Town Baptist Seminary is a South African Baptist Theological  Training Institution globally connected and contextually engaged with a mission to train Christian leaders to transform society biblically. Our training is ministry and mission-focused with research that is critical and adventurous of our faith tradition. We train our students to be professional, confident, courageous, transformational servant leaders who respond to the church's challenges and society in Africa.

Programmes

The PULSE Short Course Programmes represent the Cape Town Baptist Seminary’s attempt at taking Theological Training to the local Church. Pulse Short Course Programmes are offered with nominal tuition fees to individuals who wish to be developed in their comprehension of basic Christian Doctrine and the fundamentals of Christian Ministry. Pulse has three programme formats.

BACHELOR OF MINISTRY (BMin)

The Bachelor of Ministry has been designed to provide a broad theoretical foundation and exposure to skills necessary for rigorous engagement in the respective study field and the relevant work environment. The Bachelor of Ministry prepares persons for the Cognitive, Emotional, Psychological, Spiritual, demands of Christian Leadership within the Southern African / African Context.

The Bachelor of Theology has been designed to provide a broad theoretical foundation and exposure to skills necessary for rigorous engagement in the respective study field and the relevant work environment. The Bachelor of Theology prepares persons for the Cognitive, Emotional, Psychological, Spiritual, demands of Christian Leadership within the Southern African / African Context.

MASTER OF THEOLOGY
(MTh)

The Master of Theology is offered by the University of Pretoria and is supported by the Cape Town Baptist Seminary through a cooperative partnership. This programme is supported Administratively and Academically by the Seminary in order to ensure student success in the respective programme.

This programme is by Thesis and requires the attendance of Research Methodology contact sessions that may or may not be supported by technology. Your thesis will be guided by a specialist in the area of your research.

DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY (PhD)

The Doctor of Philosophy Degree is offered by the University of Pretoria and is supported by the Cape Town Baptist Seminary through a cooperative partnership. This programme is supported Administratively and Academically by the Seminary in order to ensure student success in the respective programme.

This programme is by Thesis and requires the attendance of Research Methodology contact sessions that may or may not be supported by technology. Your thesis will be guided by a specialist in the area of your research.

Accreditation and Registration

The Cape Town Baptist Seminary is an official Seminary of the Baptist Union of Southern Africa (BUSA) along with its sister institution Baptist Theological College (Randburg) and is an affiliate of the Western Province Baptist Association (WPBA).

Accreditation and Registration The Cape Town Baptist Seminary is registered with the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) as a Private Higher Education Institution (PHEI) in terms of section 53, 60 and 64 of the Higher Education Act, 1997 (No 101 of 1997, under registration No. 2000/HE08/005. The Seminary is therefore accredited by the Council on Higher Education (CHE), the Education and Training Quality Assurer (ETQA) to deliver the following undergraduate programmes listed on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF):

  • Bachelor of Theology B.Th.
  • Bachelor of Ministry B.Min.

The Cape Town Baptist Seminary NPC constantly evaluates the effectiveness of its programmes in attaining its institutional objectives and may in future pursue accreditation to offer additional programmes with the relevant Further Education or Higher Education statutory bodies.

In our endeavour to offer programmes that further "Train Christian Leaders to Transform Society Biblically", Cape Town Baptist Seminary is presently in the process of applying for the accreditation and registration of the following programmes:

  • Higher Certificate in Christian Leadership HCCL
  • Master of Theology M.Th.

We anticipate these programmes becoming available as early as 2020. ​

The Cape Town Baptist Seminary is a registered as a Non Profit Company Reg. No. 2003/031148/08 and is a member of the Association of Private Providers of Education, Training and Development (APPETD). ​
